Re-imagining your practice website

Last updated:
Practice websites
Practices go to great lengths to ensure their surgeries are accessible to every patient’s individual needs. But do their websites offer the same support?

Due to the ever-changing landscape of our healthcare sector, digital resources are fast becoming as important as physical. And in any one patient book, there is a diverse mix of people with very specific needs. Just like you have a hearing loop, a wheelchair ramp and easy read print documents to help remove barriers for your different patients, a practice website should meet the needs of your patients too.

Some GP practice websites are unintentionally developed with accessibility barriers that make them difficult or impossible for some people to use. Without consistent language, designs and formats, websites can be difficult to navigate, and accessibility issues make online transactions difficult if GOV.UK and NHS service standards are not met.

What’s more, Government research conducted over the past two years has found that about 99% of public sector websites contained accessibility issues representing a potential problem for users with physical or cognitive impairments – as well as a breach of regulatory requirements.

Regulation introduced in 2018 requires all newly developed public sector websites to meet the demands of version 2.1 of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – a set of internationally agreed online accessibility standards.

Embedding digital relationships

At Mjog by Livi, not only do we provide solutions to help practices engage with their patients, we also help practices grow and embed digital relationships with patients. We work with practices to develop online services that improve the digital journey for both practice staff and patients.

We can provide a pre-built platform that allows you to give simple and clear digital access to patients. This can range from GP and Primary Care Network websites, CCG platforms, booking systems for patients and integration with other services.

This includes; a nhs.uk domain, hosting and support with free upgrades to new features such as NHS login, clinical system integration and improved UX design.

That’s not all

Our customers can rely on us to not only provide an accessible patient-friendly practice website, but they can relax in the knowledge that our websites;

  • are cookie law compliant and will continually be as laws change
  • use the NHS digital service manual
  • have a quick load speed (performant)
  • are responsive, user-centred and managed by a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of IT experts.

With pre-built information pages, content editors and automated updates available to GP practices we can provide a service that contributes to releasing staff time away from the maintenance of online services.

Available across individual practices, PCN and CCG level, we can provide an eco-system of digital services to suit your organisation needs.

A digital-first approach

By migrating away from ad-hoc websites to a digital-first approach, we are capable of handling transactions online, writing into clinical systems and adding value to the patients online journey.

This year, we’re building functionality that will enable patients to book or cancel appointments and order repeat prescriptions online. Improving the patient’s digital experience whilst enabling your practice to focus on delivering great healthcare.

We’re committed to supporting our GP partners in providing a valuable, accessible digital service to all patients, no matter what their specific needs.
